Mulled wine to warm you up


2 whole cinnamon sticks, broken on parts
1 spoon of cardamom seeds
1 slice of fresh ginger
1/2 orange grounded zest
6 whole cloves
120 ml vodka
1 bottle/750 ml dry red wine
250 ml port or Madeira wine
250 ml custard sugar
½ pod of vanilla
100 g peeled and dry roasted whole almonds
120 g raisins


Crush cinnamon and cardamom in mortar or with little help of heavy pan, place them into the small glass jar, add zest, ginger, scraped caviar from ½ vanilla pod, cloves and vodka. Close it and leave rest for 24 hours.

After 24 hours drain vodka to big saucepan without all spices. Add red wine, port or Madeira, sugar, almonds and raisins. Simmer on the medium heat until you see little bubbles around sauce pan hedge. Switch it off and leave wine rest to medium temperature then serve.

Notes: Enjoy soaked almonds and raisins in your drink or take it out.
